Brother Paul began his working career early. He was posted to Baptist Primary School, Ubulu-Uku, as a teacher at the age of 19. He worked assiduously and within a short time, he became the headmaster of the school at the age of 21. Having lost his father at a very tender age, young Akazue developed a keen sense of industry very early in life.
Brother Paul joined Bata Nigeria Limited in 1971. When the company was in need of young people to be trained in shoe technology, he applied and was among the few that were selected. He was soon made a production foreman. Before he left Bata in 1983, Brother Paul had already become a member of the senior staff and had served as the production manager. He had also gone on a relief duty to Bata in Accra, Ghana. He also had the opportunity to attend several training courses in Production and Personnel Management.
He was a member of many professional bodies, including American Management Association (AMA), and the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM).
After leaving Bata Nigeria Ltd, Brother Paul had a stint at Eleganza, a manufacturing company in Lagos, where he worked as a production manager. To further enhance his skills in entrepreneurship and business management, he established a seafood company known as Tropical Sea Food (Nigeria) Limited in 1984. His last secular assignment was between 1990 and 1991, when he worked briefly with a shoe company as general manager. Shortly after, he received a call into full-time ministry of the Apostolic Faith Mission.
