The first year's camp meeting services on the grounds were held in a large canvas tent; and the following year, in 1921, the beautiful new tabernacle was built. The structure was designed by a man converted only a few years previous.
The erection of this domed tabernacle was a feat that tested the skill of the little band of volunteers. One "small" task they encountered was that of putting into place the huge trusses for the domed roof, each of which weighed many tons, the central bolts which secured them weighing 300 pounds each. The measurements of the building were 100 x 125, and 50 feet in height, seating at that time 1800 - 2000 people. A 20-foot space between the roof and ceiling provided coolness on warm days - and at the sides hung canvas curtains which could be raised or lowered according to the weather.
