Victory

When you are saved, you do not have to make a mourner’s bench of your bedside, and tell God you have made great failure this day, and say, “Lord, you know my weakness. Help me, and I will try to do better tomorrow,”----and then go out and do worse. That is not salvation. That is only remorse and worldly sorrow.

God calls you to repent with godly sorrow for sin. Turn right-about-face and forsake sin. Ask God to be merciful to you a sinner. He will save you and take the desire for the world and sin out of your life. You will “go, and sin no more.” He will give you power to do it. That’s the old-time religion!

God will change your heart, and you can tell anybody that there is power in the Blood of Jesus Christ to save from sin. It washes away the guilt of years, the tendencies of your heart that are downward, and that enmity toward God. There is nothing that can take it out but the Blood of Jesus Christ.
