ONE MEDIATOR
The Word of God says, “FOR THERE IS ONE GOD, and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus” (I Timothy 2:5). If you have sinned against God, who can forgive your sin except the one that has given you the breath of life?
“Who can forgive sins but God only?
“The Son of Man hath power on earth to forgive sins” (Mark 2:7, 10).
“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever” (Hebrews 13:8).
A lot of people are still in the dark trying to absolve themselves from guilt by doing penance for their sins. They were told, “afflict your soul and you shall be saved.” This is contrary to the tenets of the Gospel, and will not yield any result. Jesus Christ will be of no benefit to you if you merely go through a process of penance in order to get rid of your sins. Repent ye and believe the Gospel is the injunction from the Word of God.
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:31). Faith is that thing that can bring blessing to your soul, “The just shall live by faith” (Hebrews 10:38). You may continue to do penance for your sins for the rest of your life but you cannot find favour with God in this way. “For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8).
Jesus is the light of the world. If you come to Him and confess your sins, your darkness will disperse – indeed your guilt and sorrow will vanish, your doubt and fear will fade away. wonderful, peace, joy and divine liberty will be your portion. The angels in Heaven will rejoice. You will not commit sin again. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (I John 1:9).
The Testimony of a Female Religionist
Once upon a time, I was a religionist. I would go for Holy Mass, confess before the Reverend father and fast for many years, but these could not bring the peace my heart so desired. I constantly have the guilt of unforgiving sins in my heart. For many years the hunger for knowing and serving God was in my heart, but I did not know how. I could not get any one to explain to me how to be freed from sin. I desired something precious in my life that could give peace, rest and victory on daily basis. I have never opened the Bible in my life, but I thank God because He is faithful to me. He did not leave me in utter darkness. One day, He opened my eyes. He brought me to the light of this wonderful Gospel. God is faithful to every heart and above all things, He wants an honest heart.
I have a nineteen year old neighbor that had walked with crutches for fifteen years. The doctors tried all they could to no avail. They said there was no hope for him. But his mother heard about the Gospel and she invited the people of God to her house to pray for her son. The ministers of God came and prayed according to the Word of God in James 5:14 and 15 that reads thus: “Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.” Instantly, God healed the boy!
The doctors tried their best and let him know they could not help him better. His kneels got swollen and had to be on crutches when he was three and a half years, till he was nineteen years of age. The people of God actually prayed for the boy in a place that was a walking distance to their house, but the boy trekked home without the crutches!
When I saw what happened I concluded: ‘Yes, God lives, he hears and answers prayers.’ I went to their church. For the first time in my life, I heard people testified of the things God had done for them. I heard many of them saying the same story – the story of victory over sin and the peace of God in their heart. There and then, the Lord brought me to the knowledge of my sins and my heart wanted the same experience these people had. I told God that same night that, if He would give me the blessing these people have, I would give Him my life.
After four days, I went back to the church and knelt at the altar of prayer. I lifted up my eyes to Jesus with a childlike faith, I pleaded He should please have mercy on me a sinner. Immediately, the Blood of Jesus became effectual and washed away all my sins. It was wonderful to me indeed! A sweet rest came into my soul. Straight away I knew I have become a child of God, I have been born again by the Spirit of God. God removed all restlessness and sorrow from my heart and put the love of new things in my heart. Today, I have a peaceful home. Glory be to God for the old-time religion, that gives the body and soul peace.
God heals my family when we are ill. I have never seen Him fail. We have all at one time or the other been afflicted with diverse ailments. But the Lord is He that heals us from time to time. I consider it a great privilege in this world to give account of things God has done for me. – B.B.
My friend, if you ever become a child of God by being born-again, you will live without sin. There will be no secret sins that are covered up, there will be no disobedience to the will of God in your heart: but you will have victory over sin through the Blood of Jesus Christ.
