I love the Holy Bible, Lord
It gives joy, and light to the path
Of sore distressed and gloomy hearts;
It makes my crooked pathway straight,
From straying Thy fear has kept me
Thy promises give my heart rest.

Thy fear roused me from deep slumber
And portrayed where my danger lurked
After humbling my sinful heart
It is Thy word, Thy word alone
That cleansed and sanctified my soul
And brought down thy free grace to me

Who can understand his errors
My secret faults may Thou forgive
Keep me back from presumptuous sin
Accept the humble praise I bring
For all these blessings and Thy grace
Give me a grateful heart, O Lord.
