CGS Lyrics
Verse 1
Hail the day that sees Him rise,
Ravished from our wistful eyes!
Christ, awhile to mortals given,
Reascends His native heaven
Verse 2
There the pompous triumph waits:
Lift your heads, eternal gates,
Wide unfold the radiant scene;
Take the King of Glory in!
Verse 3
Him though highest heaven receives,
Still He loves the earth He leaves;
Though returning to His throne,
Still He calls mankind His own
Verse 4
See! He lifts His hands above;
See! He shows the prints of love;
Hark! His gracious lips bestow
Blessings on His Church below
Verse 5
Still for us He intercedes,
His prevailing Death He pleads,
Near Himself prepares our place,
He the first-fruits of our race
Verse 6
Lord for ever we shall cry
To Thee, who art gone on high
That, behold us Thy servants
As we steadfastly look up
Verse 7
Lord, though parted from our sight
Far above the starry height,
Grant our hearts may thither rise,
Seeking Thee above the skies
Verse 8
Up there with Thee for ever
In everlasting kingdom;
There, we shall behold Thy face,
In the heaven of Thy grace
Hail the day that sees Him rise,
Ravished from our wistful eyes!
Christ, awhile to mortals given,
Reascends His native heaven
