EXECUTIVE SUMMARY REPORT OF EDO, AREA CAMPMEETING: (15TH TO 22ND DECEMBER, 2024), WITH THE THEME: “COME. LET US REPAIR THE ALTAR OF THE LORD” – 1 KINGS 18:30

 

INTRODUCTION: A 9-day Area Camp Meeting was proposed and approved by WECA to hold between 13th to 22nd December, 2024 at Apostolic Faith Church, No 1 Akugbe Street, Off Upper Siluko Road, Useh Quarters.

Camp meeting was last held in Edo State in 2019 together with Delta, under the leadership of Reverend Emmanuel Nnaji. Five years later, God revived Edo State through the leadership of Reverend Emmanuel Mboma to bring another camp meeting into existence, this time Edo standing alone.

The camp meeting is designed to achieve the following objectives:

- To revive the churches in Edo Area.

-To enable Brethren who could not attend the annual national camp meeting have a taste of camp meeting

-To further strengthen the bond which exist among brethren in Edo Area both in Edo North and South.

PREPARATION The fixing of the windows in the new building was completed and the platform was erected, other areas for campers was prepared for camping. The AFSS building was prepared for the campers.

ARRIVAL OF CAMP DELEGATES workers started arriving very early on Friday 13th December for the workers conference while other campers arrived later.

WORKER CONFERENCE-The Ministers’ and Workers´ Conference held on December 13th as part of the pre-camp activities for the Edo Area Camp Meeting was a significant event. Coordinated by Rev. Festus Oyeniyi, with support from Rev. Nosa Uwoghiren and Rev. Emmanuel Mboma, the conference focused on preparing the ministers and workers for the upcoming camp meeting.

The conference featured various sessions aimed at equipping the attendees with spiritual and practical insights. Topics covered included:

  1. Worldliness and Worldly Amusements: Reverend Festus Oyeniyi

  2. Political and Affiliation Activities: Reverend Josiah Akioya

  3. Ministerial Relationships 1: Bro. Anniversary Diemesor

  4. Ministerial Relationships 2: Bro Femi Ekhabafe

  5. General Instructions on Marriage: Reverend Festus Oyeniyi

. The sessions were interactive, allowing participants to share their experiences and learn from one another.

Rev. Festus Oyeniyi emphasized the importance of unity and dedication in ministry, while Rev. Nosa Uwoghiren and Rev. Emmanuel Mboma provided valuable support. The conference concluded with a powerful prayer session, setting a positive tone for the upcoming camp meeting.

Edo hymn book was launched.

Overall, the conference was well-received and left the attendees inspired and ready for the camp meeting. Attendance was 119.

 

SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS CONFERENCE.. Brother Olatunde Akintola reviewed lesson 467 – the river and tree of life on the first Saturday of the camp meeting while Bro Joshua Omowanle reviewed the second lesson for the camp meeting on the last Saturday.

CHILDREN PROGRAMME The elementary children took turns to drill the congregation on the two Sundays with a short playlet on repairing the altar of the Lord.

SUNDAY DEVOTIONAL SERVICES

FIRST SUNDAY.. The Devotional Service started with a wonderful orchestra presentation while the opening prayer was said by Bro Peter Nwakaji ( pastor for Aghenebode branch). The announcement was made by the Overseer (Rev. Emmanuel Mboma) while the Bible reading by Bro Femi Ekhabafe( Ikpoba hill branch Pastor) was taken from 2 Chronicles 33: 15-16. The sermon titled “Come let us repair the altar of the Lord” was preached by Rev. Festus Oyeniyi.

He emphasize on repairing the altar of the Lord that will bring peace and blessing to the people of God.

SECOND SUNDAY . The sermon titled Behold He cometh, be ready was preached by the overseer Reverend Emmanuel Mboma where he emphasized the importance of been prepared for the rapture AS THE KING IS COMING. He highlighted the preparation that should be made to be qualified for the blessings when the King finally comes.

MORNING BIBLE TEACHINGS.

  1. Rev Josiah Akioya taught "The three Christian experiences of Salvation, Sanctification and Baptism of the Holy Ghost". In the teaching he encouraged everyone to earnestly seek God through faith and to ensure that they get their three Christian experiences as this is the foundation of every Christian's life.

  2. The Officiating Minister Reverend Emmanuel Mboma gave a sermon titled "The Power of God". He gave scriptures on the mighty power of God and encourage those present to make good use of the opportunity to obtain power from God.

  3. The teaching which was titled, "Perfect Consecration” was taught by Sis Modupe Asokhia”. The teacher defined Consecration as the act of complete surrender to God . She read from Exodus 32:29, Prov. 21:27 as she gave uplifting encouragement on consecration.

  4. The teaching taught by Reverend Nosa Uwoghiren (Lagos North Overseer) titled "Christian Standard" stressed the importance of upholding the standard of the gospel as laid down by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. In his teachings he lamented on how Christians are not careful in upholding this standards and explain the blessings that follows those that keeps this standards.

  5. Bro Peter Nwakaji used some Bible references to explain the importance of Water Baptism. After the teaching, the minister and those for water baptism went out for it while songs continue until all were baptized and returned to the tabernacle. A total of 21 persons were baptized (16 females and 5 males). While 265 was in attendance.

 

Ordinance Service : It opened with orchestration “Come and Dine” followed by the songs “Shepherd of love” and “Redeemed”. Sis Margaret Herbert taught the Lord’s Supper and everyone knelt down praying before they received the Lord’s Supper. After that session Bro Diemesor Anniversary taught the washing of the saint’s feet then everyone went down picked a partner and observed it in remembrance of our Lord Jesus. A total of 145 participated.

EVENING REVIVAL AND EVANGELISTIC SERVICES. Preachers at every evening gave a reviving sermons that turned heart to pray through. They are Bro Asuquo Ededem, Bro Femi Ekhabafe, Bro Okunbor Efosa, Bro Moses Odiase.

YOUTH PROGRAMME- Youth services was held 2:30pm on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday with youth ministers in charge are Bro Smart Idemudia, Bro Moses Aragbonfo and Sis Betty Okezie. Our youths were fully engaged throughout the camp period.

EVANGELISM- Early morning cry was done by the youth and street meeting was done in the afternoon before the evening services.

TESTIMONY SERVICES Testimonies from blessed individuals was inspiring and soul filling and the various zones and department had opportunity to testify of the power of God in their lives.

THE CHRISTMAS CONCERT started 3pm with the presentation of wonderful pieces to the glory of God.

Rev. Emmanuel Mboma led the congregational song while the opening prayer was said by Bro Smart Idemudia (Medical Stores Pastor). The intermission was beautiful led by Rev Festus Oyeniyi where he stressed the importance of parents bringing their children to our Sunday school.

CHARITY DAY Charity day was held too at 3pm. People were happy as they went home with different gifts held on Saturday 21st December.

Conclusion: The 2024 Edo Area Camp Meeting was a spiritually uplifting event, characterized by strong leadership, diverse religious activities, and a deep sense of community and thanksgiving. The collective efforts of the leaders and the support from the local ministers ensured a memorable and impactful experience for all participants. We appreciate the District Superintendent for His Support and Prayers. We also thank every other leaders from outside and within.
