Brother Paul began his working career early. He was posted to Baptist  Primary School, Ubulu-Uku, as a teacher at the age of 19. He worked  assiduously and within a short time, he became the headmaster of the  school at the age of 21. Having lost his father at a very tender age, young  Akazue developed a keen sense of industry very early in life.  

Brother Paul joined Bata Nigeria Limited in 1971. When the company was in need of young people to be trained in shoe technology, he applied and  was among the few that were selected. He was soon made a production  foreman. Before he left Bata in 1983, Brother Paul had already become a  member of the senior staff and had served as the production manager. He  had also gone on a relief duty to Bata in Accra, Ghana. He also had the  opportunity to attend several training courses in Production and Personnel  Management.

He was a member of many ​​​professional bodies, including American Management Association (AMA), and the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM). 

After leaving Bata Nigeria Ltd, Brother Paul had a stint at Eleganza, a manufacturing company in Lagos, where he worked as a production manager. To further enhance his skills in entrepreneurship and business  management, he established a seafood company known as Tropical Sea Food (Nigeria) Limited in 1984. His last secular assignment was between  1990 and 1991, when he worked briefly with a shoe company as general  manager. Shortly after, he received a call into full-time ministry of the  Apostolic Faith Mission.
