He left Lagos by air for Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria, on Wednesday  25th August, apparently for a rest after the Camp meeting. Before leaving  Lagos, he had told one of the brothers living with him that he would not  come back.

Through his actions and words, he also left the brethren in Jos in no  doubt whatsoever that he would not return to Lagos alive. When he was  leaving the table after supper on Friday, 3rd September, he told his hosts to  go and pack the luggage because, “We shall be going on a journey.” He  then went to bed and answered the Home Call at 9.40am on Saturday, 4th  September, 1999.

There is something remarkable about Rev. Soyinka. He was born  on Saturday, January 4, 1930; he became the Africa Overseer on  December 4, 1983 and died on Saturday, September 4, 1999. His initials  are J.O.S. and he died in JOS!

His funeral service took place on Oct 1, 1999 at the Great  Tabernacle, Anthony Village, Lagos. He was thereafter buried at Atan  Cemetery, in Lagos.
