The Mantle of Leadership Passes in Cote D’Ivoire
By Johnson Okpo (Missions Department, WECA Headquarters).
Brother Kintin Georges, the leader of our work in Cote D’Ivoire since 2010, passed to glory on Sunday, December 14, 2025, and was buried on Saturday January 17, 2026. Delegates from Nigeria, Benin Republic, Niger Republic, Mali, Togo, Liberia, Ghana, and France, and all over Cote D’Ivoire were in attendance, including online audiences from across the globe.
Bro. Isaac Adigun, the District Superintendent for West and Central Africa (WECA), arrived in Abidjan with Brother Okpo Johnson of Missions’ Department on January 15, 2026 for the funeral preparations and also to hold meetings with board members of Cote D’Ivoire. Several meetings were held to ascertain that all things were in place and ready for a successful funeral program, both the service of songs and the funeral service proper.
In one of the meetings with the board members, Brother Isaac asked them to tell him who God has laid in their hearts to succeed brother Kintin. The board, in a unanimous approval mentioned Brother Konan Konan Joseph, just as God has laid it in the hearts of WECA board members and Missions’ leaders. This was also approved by Portland board members.
On Saturday, after a round-table Teachers’ Conference, Ministers and Workers were gathered for a meeting. In the meeting, the choice of a successor was made known to them. All the ministers and workers in unison, showed their support for Brother Konan Konan Joseph.
The installation took place on Sunday January 18 at the first branch church, Brother Kintin pastored, Port – Bouet in Abidjan, with representation from all over Cote D’Ivoire branches, and delegates from outside Cote D’Ivoire, including online viewers. During the devotional service, Brother Isaac announced Brother Joseph’s recommendation by Cote D’Ivoire board members as well as WECA and Portland’s approval.
He also introduced Brother Joseph’s wife and six children, four of them including the wife are choristers. He stated that Brother Konan Joseph has served the church faithfully in various capacities, and met the Biblical criteria for occupying leadership position. He invited the congregation to show support for the appointment by standing, and about 500 people in attendance rose in unison.
Brother Joseph was then prayed over with Brother Isaac laying hand on him, accompanied by Overseers and board members present. They petitioned God for blessings on his life, family, and ministry.
Then Brother Konan Joseph addressed the congregation. While thanking God for the opportunity to serve in this capacity, he requested the prayers of everyone present for the ability to fulfill the assignment. Reading from the book of Isaiah 54: 4, 6, 13-17, verses he said “God gave me as consolation,” he expressed optimism that God, who helped him serve under previous administrations, will help him in his new role as leader of the church in Cote D’Ivoire. He also acknowledged the importance of upholding the Gospel standard and continuing the Great Commission.
After the service, a group photograph was taken and lunch served to all foreign delegates. Brother Isaac prayed for the Kintin’s family that God would bless them and keep them in the gospel.
Before our departure to Nigeria via Cotonou, another meeting was held with the board members for appraisal on the just concluded programs, including other land and building project’s matters in Cote D’Ivoire. A visit also was made to assess the ongoing Tabernacle building in Yamoussokouro.
God is really backing up the project as the little flock there had spent over 40 million CFA, and still looking up to God for 60 million CFA to complete the building. This tabernacle also serves as their camp grounds.
We give God all the glory for a smooth transition and journey mercies to all the delegates. We pray God to use the new administration massively in the expansion of His kingdom in Cote D’Ivoire.
