Widowers and Widows
We preach and give allowance for a second marriage to widowers and widows. This is Bible principle.
Romans 7:1: “Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,)how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?”
Romans 7:2: “For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.”
1Corinthians 7:39: “The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.”
1 Timothy 5:5:“Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.”
1 Timothy 5:9: “Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man.”
1 Timothy 5:10: “Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.”
1 Timothy 5:11: “But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry.”
1 Timothy 5:12: “Having damnation, because they have castoff their first faith.”
1 Timothy 5:13: “And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busy bodies, speaking things which they ought not.”
1 Timothy 5:14:“I will therefore that the younger woman marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.”
1 Timothy 5:15:“For some are already turned aside after Satan.”
1 Timothy 5:16:“"If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged;that it may relieve them that are widows indeed.”
There is a grave danger lurking around the lives of widowers and widows and many have fallen victims of illicit marital relationship and this does not augur well for the Church.Young men in their own interest are advised to steer clear of widows or
unmarried wonen who have restituted their wrong marital past.
