When Mother was first called into active service she preached in Oakland, San Francisco, and other California cities, and many outstanding conversions took place under her ministry. During a five weeks’ series of meetings in Oakland, some real miracles occurred, aside from the spiritual work wrought in hearts and lives. The deaf heard, the paralytic walked, and one with a longstanding Illness was definitely healed. God confirmed the preaching of His Word with signs following. Hundreds came to the place of prayer; a goodly number were saved, others sanctified, and 65 received the baptism of the Holy Ghost during those special meetings.

Some who were brought into the Gospel at Oakland and San Francisco became strong pillars of the Apostolic Faith, and upheld the standard throughout the years. One of these converts had been a drunken mechanic who heard the Gospel story and followed the Christian workers to the services where he prayed through to salvation. Later, his wife and his wife's sister were saved. Another whose life was transformed at that time was a discouraged young man who had spent much of his time down on the Barbary Coast among the flotsam characters of humanity. Not long after this, a banker came and sought the same Christian experiences these men had found; and he, too, served God for many years before going on to be with the Lord.

Testimonies telling of the outstanding conversions of some of these faithful pioneer workers will be published at the end of this historical account when it is placed in booklet form.
