The Need to Hear from God
We need to appreciate the questioner in that when such an occurrence took place and she went to pray, and God did not reveal anything to her, it came to light that God never spoke with the man, for if He had spoken with him, He would have made the same revelation to the woman. If God had been behind it, the woman would have had the feeling that something was going to happen and that God was about to send someone to her, whether she knows the name or not. God does not fail in such circumstances. If a Christian wishes to get married and has prayed and consulted his pastor and he is to go to a woman, he would accept whatever response he gets from the woman. But many men would go to a woman with the message, 'I have gone to the pastor and the pastor has asked me to give you this card.' The name dropping is tantamount to bribery. The woman would say, 'Ah! The pastor has heard. Then I have no choice.' He ought not to take the name or title of the pastor to the lady. Some would say, 'Brother T said I should give you this.' Brother T did not send you on any errands. Is Brother T the one seeking a wife? He is only trying to intimidate you. The appropriate thing to say is, 'I have prayed and I have the conviction that God wants us to be husband and wife.' Simple! When they come to you dropping anyone's name, don't be intimidated. It is a ploy. Some of the women do come to me to say, my message was delivered and I began to wonder which message and the woman would say Brother so and so said you asked him to give me marriage proposal card. I usually tell such women, I did not send him; he had come to bribe you. And I usually conclude 'I do not know whether God sent him to you or not.' If the scenario is not a coincidence of a wife seeker crossing a husband seeker, the woman would go before God and rigorously seek His face to know the mind of God. It was good the questioner said she forgot about it. That is better. He is not a correct choice, forget about it and let God plan your life for you.
