Warning Against Disobedience and Sexual Immorality
“Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:
“That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt!”(Isaiah 30:1,2)
“Woe to thee that spoilest, and thou wast not spoiled; and dealest treacherously, and they dealt not treacherously with thee! when thou shalt cease to spoil, thou shalt be spoiled; and when thou shalt make an end to deal treacherously, they shall deal treacherously with thee”(Isaiah 33:1).
God is talking about those who rejected His admonitions and preferred to adopt carnal ways of doing things. They engage in spoiling other people's homes and God is saying when they stop to spoil,God will spoil them. Consider the trend among students of keeping boyfriends and girlfriends; it is worldly. It is trial marriage based on convenience. The passage we read said such people are rebellious children because they shunned the dictates of God and rather went into the world to seek counsel. God said, “Woe to the rebellious children.” God is saying they are cursed and that children who go about spoiling another person's home would eventually be spoiled. We all know how difficult it is for parents to train their children in school. God helped many of us to train ourselves in school and we knew how difficult the adventure was. In our present age, we know what many homes go through to train their children and wards in school. At a time when books and school uniforms are quite expensive and parents still have to provide other daily upkeep, it is unthinkable that someone who understands all these would aspire to ruin the future of any girl-child.
Unfortunately, sexual immorality among our youngsters is unfathomable. The government and other leaders of thought are at a loss with regards to how this immorality could be curtailed. We must commend the government for crying out on the alarming rate at which premature pregnancy and the rise in “baby-motherhood”is rising in our country.
The government recently cried out to religious leaders to set up youth mobilization wings to restore morality to our schools. In recent years, we have encountered some ridiculously young girls who revealed they had been involved with “boys” and each time, one was perplexed. One cannot but ask how such immorality could be contemplated at their age but it is a reality. The question that bothers me is if these children who are toying with sexual immorality know there are repercussions? Worse still, do school proprietors and teachers consider the repercussions of the trend? The Bible has explicitly stated, “When thou shalt cease to spoil, thou shalt be spoiled; and when thou shalt make an end to deal treacherously, they sha1l deal treacherously with thee”(Isaiah 33:1). God's Words are yea, and amen.
Therefore, if you have been guilty of these things or you imitate those engaged with sexual immorality, we plead with you to repent.
