A most outstanding conversion was that of a young man who had been brought up in a good home. He and his father had their own watchmaking shops and were successful in their line of business.

At a time of physical suffering he began using a drug to alleviate pain; and through its continual use, he became a habitual drug addict, a bound slave to “dope.” His Christian mother would walk the streets night after night, looking for her boy, a despised dope fiend and drunkard.

One night she found him and said, “Son, I know where you can get rid of that life of sin, and then you can come home and live with me.” He said, “mother, I have gone too far”. His health was gone, as well as his life’s ambitions. He would commit any crime just to obtain the drugs that debauched his life. Police considered him incorrigible; his photographs and fingerprints were on record in almost every state in the Union. Everything seemed against his being rein-stated to normal living again. Yet he had faith that his mother would not hold out a false hope to him, and he came with her to the Apostolic Faith service where God saved his soul.

Following his conversion, he gave his testimony saying: “As I was going up the stairway, I could hear the congregation singing, ‘In tenderness He sought me, weary and sick with sin.’ I had never heard such a wonderful song in my life, and I determined to give God a chance. Down on my knees, I prayed out my broken heart to Mother’s God, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner.’ In the courts I had never admitted my guilt, always pleaded innocent. But when I knelt at the foot of the Cross I pleaded guilty, and asked for mercy. The power of God came into my life and set me free.

“All these years I have not wanted nor had one thought of the old drug. God completely delivered me and has enabled me to work and live as I should live in this world. He put a love for everybody in my heart. I went to the officers of the law whom I had hated, and gave information they needed to know. The captain who had said I was incorrigible marvelled at the transformation in my life. It is wonderful for a dope fiend to come into contact with Calvary’s Stream and to know the power in the Blood of Jesus.”
