In those early days, we had a "Morning Star Quartet" and sometimes we would "throw out the Life Line" by singing old familiar Gospel hymns as we plowed through the waters. There were other times, too, that we sang on deck of a vessel or on the docks, and some of us would play the guitar, banjo, or other instruments for accompaniment. One time when the boys were out on one of their missionary journeys down the river, they literally threw out a life line to the crew of another little boat, which had caught fire. They rescued them from possibly drowning or burning to death, for the boat they were in was soon completely destroyed by the fire.
