The price of the Property, $150,000 plus construction costs for erecting a large new headquarters building, was no small financial undertaking. Involved in this proposition was not only a lot of money, but also a lot of hard labor. It certainly would have been a staggering thought to the small and comparatively poor congregation had they not been rich in faith, zealous for God, with a “mind to work.” They were no novices in facing difficult problems. The previous year they had completed the stupendous task of erecting the large domed tabernacle to be used for annual conventions on the campgrounds at S.E. 52d Avenue and Duke Street.

Observers sometimes looked on in wonderment and expressed their doubts as to how a church without a collection plate could manage such great obligations. Some ventured the idea that possibly the church was supported by “rich converted bachelors,” ‘’donated estates,” or some “high pressured” method. But the work of the Gospel founded on faith was to endure by faith. It was to be promulgated as it always had been, by volunteer Christian workers and volunteer contributions. This method, honored by God from the beginning of the evangelistic organization, had proved successful in meeting every challenge of the past – and this new venture was to be no exception.
